Saidu

Arewa leader in the south Alhaji Musa Saidu has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to revisit the new tax regime which took effect this year.
Saidu who spoke to the Vanguard said he was aware the government needs money to effectively run the nation but the president should consider the harsh impact of the tax on average and already impoverished Nigerians.
“The issue of tax reforms should be looked into. We want the government to have money to provide infrastructure but at the same time we are calling on the president to revisit the tax issue “, he pleaded.
“He should look at the condition of the people, why they are crying”, he added.
Continuing, Saidu reaffirmed support for the reelection of President Tinubu for a second term, urging Nigerians to rally round the government to achieve greater impact in the economy, security and other relevant areas of the nation’s life.
The northern leader reiterated his earlier position that he would not support the presidential aspiration of Mr Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra state and Mr Chibuike Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, alleging that they never really identified with northerners in their states while they were governors.
He further cautioned northern politicians to be wary of the political alignments they go into , stressing that they should not trade off interest of the northern region for temporary gains.
“The political permutations have started, we see alignment and realignment. We have seen that some of the northern leaders have not learnt from history. They are just after power and not for the northern interest.
“We will vote for Tinubu. We don’t hate Ibos, I will spend my money to campaign for Senator Ken Nnamani whenever he chooses to run for president of our country “, he said.
