The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Kinetium Oil and Gas Ltd, has concluded a two-week vocational training and empowerment programme in plumbing and pipefitting for 30 youths in Lagos State.
The training, which held from January 12 to January 23, 2026, was designed to equip participants with practical skills and technical knowledge relevant to employment opportunities within the oil and gas sector and allied industries.
During the programme, trainees received instruction in plumbing system components, pipe installation and repairs, pipefitting techniques, and compliance with plumbing codes and safety standards. The curriculum combined classroom sessions with hands-on practical exercises, enabling participants to gain real-world experience in plumbing system installation and maintenance.
Organisers said the initiative was aimed at preparing beneficiaries for self-employment and paid roles as plumbers, pipefitters, or independent plumbing contractors, while also strengthening the pool of skilled Nigerian artisans available to the energy sector.
The programme aligns with NCDMB’s broader mandate to deepen Nigerian content by building local capacity and closing skills gaps in the oil and gas industry. The board has consistently prioritised vocational and technical training as part of its strategy to promote youth employment and sustainable industry growth.
The successful completion of the training underscores the commitment of both NCDMB and Kinetium Oil and Gas Ltd to human capital development, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the beneficiaries will contribute meaningfully to the sector and the wider economy.
