NCDMB begins five-day capacity-building training for teachers in Delta host communities

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commenced a five-day capacity-building training programme for teachers in oil and gas host communities in Delta State, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

The training programme is being executed by OMAROG Nigeria Company Limited on behalf of the NCDMB and is aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of teachers in STEM-related subjects to improve the quality of education in host communities.

According to the Board, the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to develop indigenous capacity and capabilities for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry by strengthening the foundation of education at the grassroots level.

By equipping teachers with updated teaching methods and practical STEM skills, the NCDMB said it expects improved learning outcomes for students and better preparation of young people for future opportunities within the oil and gas sector and other technology-driven industries.

The programme features a mix of theoretical instruction, hands-on activities and collaborative planning sessions designed to encourage active participation, peer learning and classroom innovation among educators.

The NCDMB noted that it has implemented similar training programmes in the past, underscoring the critical role of STEM education in driving innovation, workforce development and economic growth.

The Board added that its continued investment in education aligns with its statutory mandate to promote local content development and build sustainable human capacity for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
