Joy and renewed optimism swept through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ,NSCDC, on Wednesday following the extension of the tenure of its Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, a move widely seen as an endorsement of his leadership and reform agenda.

The decision sparked celebrations across commands nationwide, with officers and stakeholders hailing it as a strong vote of confidence in Audi’s stewardship of the Corps.

Since assuming office, the NSCDC boss has been credited with strengthening professionalism, boosting operational efficiency and repositioning the agency as a key player in Nigeria’s internal security architecture.

Reacting to the development, the National Coordinator of Stand Up Nigeria, Mr. Sunny Attah, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a timely and well-deserved show of trust in the NSCDC leadership.

According to Attah, the tenure extension underscores the President’s confidence in Dr. Audi’s ability to further consolidate reforms and enhance the Corps’ capacity to safeguard the nation.

“The extension will significantly boost morale within the NSCDC and provide the leadership stability needed to deepen ongoing reforms,” Attah said.

He added:“Nigerians can be assured that the Corps will continue to live up to its constitutional mandate.”

He expressed confidence that under Audi’s continued leadership, the NSCDC would intensify its role in protecting critical national assets, maintaining internal security and supporting national peace efforts.

The tenure extension has continued to attract positive reactions from within and outside the security community, with many observers expressing optimism that the Corps will build on recent gains and further strengthen its contribution to national stability.

For many within the NSCDC, the extension signals continuity, renewed momentum and a fresh resolve to deliver on the Corps’ growing responsibilities in Nigeria’s security landscape.
