The Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nigeria, Ambassador Daniel Krull met with her Excellency, Ambassador (Dr.) Priscilla Onyemaechi Otuya, CEO, Mothers of the Nations Global Communications and first female President of the United Gospel Churches Association of Nigeria, to discuss strategies for advancing women’s leadership and socio-economic development in Nigeria.
The meeting, held at the German Consulate in Lagos, was part of preparations for the African Forum for Young and Emerging Female Presidents and CEOs, focusing on Africa-Europe cooperation, women’s participation in governance, leadership, and development.
According to Ambassador Krull, “We are very encouraged by the initiative’s focus on leadership, women’s empowerment, and international collaboration, especially as it relates to women in the faith communities.”
The Consul General promised to make recommendations within the consulate to explore areas of potential support for the efforts being made.
The meeting also covered distinguishing faith-based initiatives from religious institutions, particularly in development and governance contexts.
Dr. Otuya emphasised this distinction, noting faith-based initiatives’ key role in promoting inclusive development and social cohesion.
” Faith-driven social enterprises led by young leaders were also praised for boosting socio-economic growth, job creation, and community resilience”, Dr. Otuya added.
However, the Forum, scheduled for March 8, 2026, aims to prepare African women for leadership roles through mentorship and policy dialogue.
