Ben-Obi, who is also the Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Proven Performance Limited, received the title of Adadiohanma of Isi Ihite-Owerri at a ceremony held on December 30 at the Ezeoha Palace in the community.
The honour was announced in a letter signed by the Ezeoha of Isi Ihite-Owerri, HRH Damian Emeka Obianigwe, who said the title was in recognition of her service to the community and her wider contributions in public life.
In the letter, Obianigwe noted that the decision reflected Ben-Obi’s record of leadership and community engagement, adding that the people of Isi Ihite-Owerri had chosen to recognise her through the traditional institution.
Among the Igbo, chieftaincy titles are reserved for individuals regarded as having shown strong character, leadership, and service to their communities.
Ben-Obi spent nearly 14 years at the Federal Inland Revenue Service, where she was involved in major digital and innovation projects aimed at modernising tax administration and improving efficiency. Beyond her work in government, she has also been active in mentoring and supporting women and young people in science and technology.
Her work has earned several national and international recognitions, including the ISACA Technology for Humanity Award, the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Medal, and commendations from ISACA chapters in Abuja and the United States.
At the palace ceremony, the traditional ruler formally invested her with the title using the customary symbols of office. Ben-Obi, in a brief remark, thanked the community for the honour assuring she would continue to contribute to national development and to the progress of Isi Ihite-Owerri.
