The Registered Board of Trustees of the Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church has declared null, void, invalid, and of no legal, constitutional, or ecclesiastical effect all suspensions and excommunications purportedly imposed by Archbishop Nyong Ayakndue against some members of the church.
A statement by Mrs. Uduak Akpan on behalf of the Registered Board of Trustees of the church said
those affected include Bishop Peter Udokang, Elder Marshal Udoh, Presiding Elder and Emmanuel Edoho, adding:” they are accordingly annulled, reversed and set aside ab initio.”
According to the statement, “Following a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding these actions, the Board of Trustees finds that the said suspensions and excommunications were ultra vires, unlawfully undertaken, and executed in gross violation of the church’s constitution and established governance procedures. The actions were carried out without due process, consultation, ratification, or approval of the Board of Trustees, who remain the supreme custodians of the Church’s legal, administrative, and corporate affairs.
“Accordingly, the affected persons are hereby fully, unconditionally, and immediately reinstated to their respective offices, ranks, rights, privileges, responsibilities, and standing within the Church, without restriction, reservation, or prejudice.
“The Board of Trustees hereby formally directs Archbishop Nyong Ayakndue to immediately cease and desist from issuing any further directives, sanctions, pronouncements, communications, or representations, whether written or oral, purporting to act for, represent, or bind the Church in any manner whatsoever. Any such further actions shall be deemed unauthorized, invalid, and actionable.
“Furthermore, the Board advises and requires Archbishop Nyong Davies Enyakdue to confine himself to an orderly, peaceful, and dignified retirement, in the overriding interest of preserving institutional stability, ecclesiastical discipline, and public confidence in the church.
“The Board also formally notifies the purported or self-styled trustees-elect to immediately desist from parading or representing themselves as trustees of the church, as any continued misrepresentation shall attract appropriate administrative, ecclesiastical, and legal consequences”
