Buni constructs over 100 urban, rural roads, flyover with underpass, others ongoing

The Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni in the last six years has constructed over 100 roads linking towns and villages across the 17 local government areas.

This is as the multi billion naira fly-over with underpass, and several other roads and drainage projects were at the verge of completion.

This was disclosed on Wednesday during a media tour of projects in Damaturu, the state capital and other communities by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego.

Bego who was flanked by his counterparts, Commissioner of Works, Hon. Engr Umar Wakil and Commissioner of Housing Hon. Architect Ahmed Buba at the ongoing construction site of the 460 meters Flyover and 600 metres Underpass in Damaturu revealed that, “these projects were part of Governor Buni’s Legacy in rural and urban renewal initiatives”.

Giving details, the Commissiomer of Works, Engr. Wakil explained that, “the Flyover and Underpass project contracted to Triacta Construction Company precisely in February 2025, is expected to be completed in March this year”.

He further noted that the flyover bridge is designed to ease congestion, improve connectivity, and ensure the smooth movement of goods and services across the city and beyond.

“This approval for execution of Flyover and Underpass by the Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, aligns with the implementation of the 25-Year Damaturu City Master Plan”. Wakil informed.

On the massive construction and completion of over 100 roads and draingaes in towns and villages across the state, such as the Balanguwa-Kumaganam, Danchuwa-Jajere, Chumbusko-Tagali, too numerous to mention, as well as ongoing ones across the 17 local government areas, Wakil said: “Aims to restore hope, open access to agricultural farmlands, trades, and ease free movement of goods and services”.

He further revealed that, apart from roads and drainage network projects, Trailers/Motors Parks in Damaturu and Potiskum local government areas, erosion control, Governor Buni has invested heavily in the area of agriculture, education, health, empowerment, job creation and hosts of other people oriented projects.

These he said, was in addition to completion of nine (9) Ultra Modern and Modern markets, Sesame, polythene bags and other related factories across some local government areas aims to enhance revenue generation and ensure sustainable development in the state.

Also in his submission, the Area Manager of Triacta Construction Firm, Mr. Fadi Abi Aad who is handling the Flyover and Underpass Bridge project in Damaturu assured of quality work, which he promised to finish its execution in March this year, based on the contractual agreement.
