Ajipe urges vigilance after attack on Ipele Police Station

Chief Alexander Oluremi Ajipe, a frontline aspirant for the Ondo North Senatorial District, on Thursday urged residents of Owo Local Government Area to remain vigilant following an early morning attack on the Ipele Divisional Police Station.

The attack, carried out by suspected bandits in Ipele, occurred on New Year’s Day, according to local sources.

Ajipe said he had personally contacted the Olupele of Ipele, Oba Olusegun Ajimigbaje, to commiserate with the community and commend the monarch’s leadership in the aftermath of the incident.

He praised the swift response of security agencies, noting that the damage was limited to the police facility.

The Ondo State Government had earlier confirmed that no lives were lost and no religious centres were affected during the attack.

Ajipe also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for directing all security formations in the state to be placed on red alert.

“While calm has returned to Ipele and security operatives are trailing the assailants, this is a moment for all Owo residents to remain extra vigilant,” Ajipe said.

He urged residents to promptly report any suspicious movement to security agencies.

“If you see something unusual, say something immediately. Let us work hand in hand with our security forces to safeguard our communities,” he added.

The senatorial aspirant raised concerns over forest areas around Ipele, which he described as hideouts for bandits and kidnappers.

“These forests must be occupied with meaningful economic activities,” he said, adding that he had engaged the state Ministry of Agriculture for nearly two years on plans to transform the areas into productive hubs.

Ajipe warned that attacks in Ipele and other parts of Owo were becoming frequent and must be halted.

He also used the occasion to extend New Year greetings to residents of Ondo North.

“As we usher in 2026, I wish our people a prosperous year. This is the time to change the narrative of representation at the Senate,” he said.

Ajipe assured residents of their safety under the current administration and called for sustained cooperation with security agencies to ensure lasting peace.
