Save Nigeria Group USA commends Trump over Nigeria airstrikes

The Save Nigeria Group (SNG) USA has praised President Donald J. Trump for ordering military airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIS) enclaves in northwestern Nigeria, describing the action as a decisive step to halt ongoing violence against Christians and other vulnerable communities.

In a statement signed by Stephen Osemwegie, President and Founder of SNG USA, and Victor Onyeka Ben, Director of Media, the group said the airstrikes, reportedly carried out on Christmas Day, demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to confronting global terrorism.

SNG USA described the intervention as a “bold, moral, and life-saving action”, sending a clear message to radical Islamic terrorists that impunity would no longer be tolerated. The group also acknowledged the cooperation of the Nigerian government in addressing the escalating security crisis.

According to the statement, the airstrikes targeted ISIS militants in parts of Sokoto State, linked to attacks on Christians and other civilians. President Trump had previously warned that the United States would act if violence against Christians continued unchecked.

The group further disclosed that it has formally nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his leadership and commitment to peace through strength. However, it noted that Nigeria’s security challenges are complex, involving multiple armed groups, and that military action alone may not restore lasting peace.

SNG USA called for sustained and coordinated efforts to dismantle radical Islamist terror networks, particularly the Fulani Islamist militia, while ensuring long-term civilian protection.

“The decisive action did not come in a vacuum,” the statement read. “Save Nigeria Group USA led a major rally in Washington, D.C., appealing directly to President Trump and the U.S. Congress to act urgently to stop the slaughter of innocent Nigerians—especially Christians in the Middle Belt and Northern regions.”

While applauding the intervention, the group stressed that much more remains to be done, noting that Nigeria faces over 20 radical Islamic terrorist groups, including ISIS affiliates and Boko Haram factions, with the Fulani Islamist militia identified as the most devastating force behind attacks in Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, Kwara, and Kogi states.

SNG USA also commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for working closely with the U.S. government to confront terrorism, emphasizing that international cooperation, transparency, and accountability are essential to ending terror and stabilizing Nigeria.

Additionally, the group praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State for granting a full pardon to Sunday Jackson, describing the decision as an act of compassion, justice, and respect for human dignity.
