PLAN commends Tinubu on Strategic Appointments at NMDPRA, NUPRC

The Pipeline Professional Association of Nigeria (PLAN),organizers of the Nigeria International Pipeline
Technology and Security Conference(NIPITECS), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the appointment of the
Chief Executives of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream
Petroleum Regulatory Authority(NMDPRA)and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC)
(NUPRC).
These appointments reflect the President’s commitment to strengthening petroleum sector governance through competence,experience,and professionalism.
PLAN places special emphasis on the appointment of Engr.Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as the Authority
Chief Executive of the NMDPRA.Engr.Mohammed is a highly respected industry leader and a Board
of Trustees member of the Pipeline Professional Association of Nigeria.
Engr.Saidu Aliyu Mohammed was born on 17 July 1957 in Gombe State.
He went to Government
Secondary School,Gombe,and later studied at the North-East College of Arts and Science in
Maiduguri.
He obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria.
He spent over 37 years working in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry,mainly with NNPC.
During his career, he held many
senior positions,including Managing Director of the Nigerian Gas Company and Kaduna
Refining and Petrochemical Company.
He later became Group Executive Director and Chief Operating
Officer for Gas and Power before retiring in 2019.
Engr.Mohammed played an important role in shaping Nigeria’s gas sector.He was part of the team
that developed the Nigerian Gas Master Plan.He also worked on major gas projects like the Escravos-
Lagos Pipeline expansion and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline.He contributed to the setup of the West African Gas Pipeline system.
Engr.Mohammed is a registered engineer with COREN. He is a Board of Trustees member of the
Pipeline Professional Association of Nigeria.also a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and has led professional bodies such
as the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers and the Nigeria Gas
Association.
PLAN is confident that his depth of experience,technical capacity,and leadership will strengthen
regulation in the midstream and downstream sectors and support the full implementation of the
Petroleum Industry Act.
The Association congratulates Engr.Saidu Aliyu Mohammed (NMDPRA)and Mrs.Oritsemeyiwa
Eyesan(NUPRC)on their appointments and assures them of continued support and collaboration of pipeline
professionals across Nigeria.
