More than 200 peasant farmers from Adamawa, Borno, and Gombe states have participated in a stakeholders’ market engagement workshop in Yola, aimed at promoting modern and sustainable farming techniques.
Organized by Nuru Nigeria in partnership with the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union, among other partners, the workshop focused on “Sustainable and Transformative Agribusiness Innovations in Northern Nigeria.” It provided farmers with opportunities to learn, network, and benefit from expert guidance to increase crop yields and reduce post-harvest losses.
Opening the workshop, Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, represented by Ibrahim Babayo, commended the organizers, noting that the initiative would equip rural farmers with modern techniques to improve productivity and efficiency.
The workshop brought together market operators in soybeans, maize, groundnut, and aquaculture, alongside representatives from financial institutions, agribusiness experts, and development partners. Discussions focused on market coordination, inclusive agribusiness models, and sustainable commercial linkages to strengthen value chains.
Humshe Yakubu, Project Coordinator representing the Managing Director of Nuru Nigeria, said the event highlighted the importance of collaboration between smallholder farmers and market actors in building resilience and prosperity in Northeast Nigeria.
The workshop marked a significant milestone in Nuru Nigeria’s mission to empower underserved communities through transformative agribusiness innovations.
