Renowned philanthropist, entrepreneur, and cultural icon Obi Cubana (Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu), Chairman of Cubana Group and its subsidiary companies, is set to receive two highly esteemed traditional titles in Anambra State, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to nation-building, enterprise development, and youth empowerment.
The conferment ceremonies, scheduled for January 3 and January 9, 2026, mark another defining chapter in the life of one of Africa’s most visible business leaders, coming on the heels of his widely celebrated 50th birthday philanthropy initiative, “50 for 50,” held in Abuja in April 2025.
On January 3, 2026, the ancient and revered kingdom of Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri, under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpe, and the Council of Chiefs, will confer on Obi Cubana one of the kingdom’s most distinguished chieftaincy titles.
The honour reflects his enduring commitment to community development, cultural preservation, and the promotion of indigenous values alongside modern enterprise.
Further cementing this historic recognition, on January 9, 2026, his hometown of Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State will bestow on him another significant traditional title. This second honour underscores the deep-rooted pride of his people in a son whose influence transcends commerce, bridging culture, philanthropy, and global African excellence.
Obi Cubana’s entrepreneurial journey has been defined by visionary leadership, job creation, and strategic investments across hospitality, entertainment, real estate, and allied sectors. Through the Cubana Group, he has empowered thousands of young Nigerians, while his philanthropic footprint continues to expand in education, healthcare, and social development.
These forthcoming honors are not merely ceremonial; they represent a collective acknowledgment by traditional institutions of a modern African entrepreneur whose success remains firmly anchored in community, culture, and service.
As Anambra State prepares for these landmark events, the double conferment stands as a powerful testament to a legacy still in motion, one that harmonizes tradition with innovation and local pride with continental impact.
