Nigerian-based renewable energy company, Izili, has clinched the coveted Solar Home System (SHS) Company of the Year award at the 2025 AFSIA Solar Awards held in Accra, Ghana.
The award recognises the company’s outstanding leadership and contribution to expanding clean energy access to millions of underserved households across the African continent.
Receiving the honour on behalf of the company, the Chief Executive Officer of Izili Group, Mr. Kolawole Osinowo, dedicated the win to the firm’s dedicated workforce spread across its operational countries.
“This award is a validation of our mission to bring clean, reliable, and affordable energy to every household across Africa. It belongs to our teams in Senegal, Madagascar, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire who work tirelessly every day to empower communities with innovative solar and digital solutions,” Osinowo stated.
Formerly known as Baobab+, Izili has been at the forefront of last-mile energy distribution for over a decade, with a record of over 700,000 products sold. The company leverages innovative Pay-As-You-Go financing models to make solar home systems accessible, operating in Nigeria, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Madagascar.
Beyond lighting homes, Izili’s initiatives like the ‘CoolHer Program’ are designed to economically empower women entrepreneurs by providing them with solar-powered refrigerators to boost their businesses and livelihoods.
The AFSIA Awards are widely regarded as the largest celebration of excellence in the African solar industry. Winning the top prize in the SHS category firmly positions Izili among the most influential players driving Africa’s clean-energy transition.
The company has extended its appreciation to its partners, customers, investors, and field teams for their role in this achievement. Since commencing operations in 2015, Izili has empowered over 2.5 million people across Africa with solar energy and digital solutions.
