As part of NEMA’s  proactive action plans in providing swift responses to emergency situations in the country, The Porthacourt Operations Office embarked on the annual preventive and timely response programme tagged “Operation Eagle Eye”.

The Programme is designed to promote zero road crashes, swift and timely emergency responses, reduce traffic congestion and strengthen stakeholders coordination during critical situations in the festive periods.

Chief Search and Rescue Officer of  NEMA Porthacourt Operations office, Anyanwu Fortunatus led an emergency response team of officers to the ever busy Igwuruta roundabout along the Airport Road where they assisted the police and other traffick wardens in traffic control. The team later proceeded to the Omagwa International Airport roundabout to further monitor the road and vehicular movements.  

During the operation, the team collaborated with the FRSC Isiokpo unit command to ensure safety of road users and  compliance during the period.

The FRSC Isiokpo Unit Commander Mrs. J.S Egop-Ogor commended the NEMA team on their commitment and continuous safety operations and support, especially during festive seasons in order to ensure that safety measures and road traffic rules are adhered to by all road users.

The Eagle Eye  operation also featured major route patrols and monitoring, traffic control and strategic positioning of the red alert team in the case of critical emergencies that would require additional assistance.
