A youth group known as Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC-W) has held a stakeholders engagement meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State with a call to rally support for the security apparatus in the country.
The meeting focused on enhancing security in the Niger Delta region.
This is just as the group also commend Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) for their security operations in the region.
In a communique signed and issued to newsmen on Monday, by the National Coordinator of NDYC–W) Jator Abido, also commended the leadership of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku and the NDDC Board, led by Hon Chiedu Ebie, for their efforts in regional development.
The group which also lauded President Bola Tinubu, for appointing a new Minister of Defence, said:” We call on all youth to support security agencies in safeguarding the region. We as a Council equally condole with Bayelsa State Government passing of the Deputy Governor.
“The NDYC-W commended Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited for community engagement programs and pledged partnership to protect critical oil infrastructure.
“We want to warn non-indigenous groups perpetuating violence (Fulani herdsmen, bandits, cult groups) that their activities won’t be tolerated in the region.”
They urged all groups to embrace peace and coexist with Niger Delta communities in this yuletide season.
Meanwhile, the NDYC-W has launched its maiden edition of the Niger Delta Chronicle newspaper, a monthly publication aimed at being the leading voice of the region’s media.
