Lions club’s kindness creating safe space – Don

A Professor of Neurophysiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Abiodun Ayoka has disclosed that the humanitarian services of Lions club is creating safe spaces across the world.

This is as Osun State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Dr Christopher Arapasopo emerged 5th President of Osun Esteemed Lions Club.

Speaking at the public presentation and fund raising event of the club held in Osogbo, on Sunday, Professor Ayoka described kindness as a selfless service that produces empathy, love and forgiveness.

He tasked other well wealthy Nigerians to support act of humanitarian services as represented by Lions club with a view to creating more safe spaces for the development of the country.

“The result of this active kindness is the creation of a safe space for all people, regardless of age, background, or race. Kindness makes existence more accommodating and comfortable, and it is the single greatest legacy we can leave for the generations to come.

“The Call to Tangible Impact and the spirit of service demands that we go beyond kind thoughts and kind words. It demands a tangible impact. We must translate the warmth in our hearts into the work of our hands. This is the moment when kindness becomes action, when compassion manifests as results-hope, healing, and change delivered to those who need it most.

“Today, we honor this renewed call to service by asking you to join this tangible effort. This club has vital humanitarian projects underway and initiatives that will feed the hungry, clothe the exposed, and educate the future”, said.

In his acceptance speech, Lion Christopher Arapasopo disclosed that his emergence as the club’s president aligned with his lifelong mission to contribute to societal development.

“My lifelong mission has been to serve humanity and contribute meaningfully to societal development. That mission remains unchanged. I commit my time, resources, and energy to elevate our club’s impact through sustainable and transformative service projects.

“Our vision remains clear to be the global leader in community and humanitarian service. To achieve this, we will focus on strengthening membership, expanding our humanitarian outreach, and enhancing our public image and visibility.

“In unity, we will continue to pool our resources, harness our collective expertise, and initiate innovative projects that deliver greater impact. Together, we will make a lasting difference-touching lives, uplifting communities, and creating positive change far beyond what any individual could accomplish alone”, he said.
