Empowerment: Ikeja council gifts cash to vulnerable, commissions roads

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, popularly called, AKOD, has distributed various sums of cash to vulnerable residents as economy empowerment, stressing the need for community development.

Dauda, also commissioned Shanu Street and Balogun Street, two major rehabilitated roads executed under his administration to mark the 100 days in office.

Some of the beneficiaries received the sum of N250,000, N500, 000 respectively.

The commissioning and presentation were witnessed by the Lagos State All Progressives Congress, APC, Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, accompanied with State Working Committee members.

Ojelabi expressed the confidence the party leadership has in the AKOD-led administration.

He commended AKOD for “making the party proud by keeping his promises to the people and improving the quality of life in Ikeja.”

Ojelabi, urged residents to continue supporting the APC, assuring them that the party remains steadfast in its mission to deliver dividends of democracy, prosperity, and people-centered governance.

Also in attendance at the Shanu Street commissioning was the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, who commended the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development.

The event attracted a distinguished gathering of political leaders, technocrats, and community stakeholders, which included; The Deputy Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Adedamola Kasunmu, ARK, the Vice Chairman of Ikeja LGA Abisola Omisore, Party stalwarts led by the Ikeja APC LGA Chairman, Adekunle Dally-Adeokun.

Residents of Shanu and Balogun Streets expressed heartfelt appreciation to Chairman AKOD, applauding his dedication to infrastructural renewal and his resolve to bring tangible development to every part of Ikeja.

Many described the new roads as “a dream fulfilled” and a testament to an administration that listens, acts, and delivers.
