Cancer cells

The Children Living With Cancer Foundation, CLWCF, has urged government to support children living with cancer through subsidised treatment, provision of facilities and awareness creation.
The Foundation said this as no fewer than 200 children attended its annual Christmas celebration held in collaboration with the 7 Fifteen Foundation at the Oncology Ward, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH.
Speaking at the event, Founder of CLWCF, Dr Nneka Nwobbi, said the event was done to bring joy to children and their families so as to uplift their spirit, especially during these difficult times.
Nwobbi said: “We do this to bring joy to them and tell them that there is more to life than what they are going through.”
Nwobbi emphasised the organisation’s commitment to supporting children and living with cancer and their families saying it was one of the foundation’s core objectives.
Also speaking, Chairman of the 7 Fifteen Foundation, Adesuwa Belo-Osagie, said the foundation was keen to support youth and children so as to give them a chance at a better future
She said: “We support education for the youth, training opportunities, job opportunities and majorly health.”
She stressed the need to support children not just financially but also emotionally so as to give them a sense of belonging
“Our giving is beyond financial support. We can volunteer our time to play with the children who are in need and don’t always have the opportunity to go out there so that they can have fun in the way that other children do. Through visiting hospitals, orphanages and other institutions too.”
Belo-Osagie stated that the Foundation was always open to work with organisations that shared the same vision of providing for those in need.
A beneficiary at the event, Mrs. Ruth Sunday, who came with four of her children expressed joy stating that the event made the season better for her.
She said: “I’m very happy to be here, I got so many gifts for my children. My Christmas is better, even if I don’t get more things, I’m ok. I appreciate the organisers and pray God bless them to do more.”
