ABUJA – THE Executive Director, Women in Mining Africa, WiM-Africa, Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, has emerged the winner of the Women in Mining Award 2025 at the Resourcing Tomorrow Outstanding Achievement Awards in London.
Asokoro-Ogaji winning the prestigious award was a defining moment for African leadership and women empowerment in the global mining sector.
According to a statement signed by the Director, Operations and Secretariat Services, WiM-Africa, Dr Antonia Nebo, she (Asokoro-Ogaji) emerged winner among six exceptional finalists including Amanda Lacaze (Lynas Rare Earths), Laura Tyler (Adriatic Metals), Ingrid Hibbard (Pelangio Exploration), Michelle Keegan (Atrico/Robopalooza) and Ria Sanz (Marlow Global).
Meanwhile, she dedicated the award to mining host communities and women across Africa, reaffirming the need for equitable development, beneficiation, policy advocacy, and value-driven partnerships in critical minerals.
In her remarks after receiving the award she said: “This win is for African women in mining, for host communities sustaining global industries, and for every woman whose work builds this sector even when unseen.”
Dr. Ogaji leads transformation across 36+ African countries, driving the development of the WiM-Africa Institute for Leadership & Sustainable Mining and beneficiation laboratories aimed at strengthening women-led value addition and research capacity on the continent.
