Anambra Ministry of Information defends 2025 budget, commends media partners

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has projected a significant improvement in the Ministry’s budget performance for the 2025 fiscal year,
highlighting the Ministry’s expanding mandate and intensified media activities across the state.

Speaking during the Budget Presentation at the State Legislature, Dr. Mefor noted that while the ministry recorded a performance level of 34 percent in 2024, the current year 2025 has already reached 65 percent performance, even when the year is yet to end.

He expressed confidence that the figures would rise further before the close of the fiscal year.

Dr. Mefor emphasized that the Ministry’s core mandate centres on information dissemination and public enlightenment, stressing the need for transition from ordinary information release to strategic communication.

According to him, strategic communication plays a critical role in influencing positive public perception and helping citizens appreciate the ongoing developmental efforts of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Highlighting the state’s robust media activities, he noted the increased circulation of government information across multiple digital platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and other social media channels, which according to him, making it easier for Ndi Anambra to stay informed about the governor’s achievement from the comfort of their homes.

As part of the upcoming festive season, the Commissioner announced that Anambra would celebrate Christmas “as never before,” with a special branded event, “Onwa December,” a largely media-driven initiative aimed at showcasing the state’s cultural vibrancy and enhancing public engagement.

Dr. Mefor appreciated the press and media professionals for their continued partnership, stating that the ministry’s achievements would not have been possible without their support.

He encouraged them to sustain and surpass their efforts in 2026 to further publicize the impactful projects of Governor Soludo and ensure that the public remains well informed about the administration’s progress.
