A prominent northern leader Alhaji Musa Saidu has kicked against a call on the federal government to grant amnesty to alleged foreigners behind insecurity in the north.
Speaking against the backdrop of a recent appeal to the federal government by Chairman of Arewa Consultative forum, ACF, Bashir Dalhatu, to grant amnesty to bandits behind insecurity in the north Saidu said he could not understand how the government could do such.
” I thought they said the bandits are foreigners from neighboring countries so how do you give amnesty to foreigners “, he queried.
“I am calling on the federal government to investigate this call that bandits be paid monthly . Because I can’t connect with how the federal government will grant amnesty to none Nigerians “he added.
Chairman of Arewa Consultative forum, ACF, Bashir Dalhatu, had recommended amnesty for bandits as one of the solutions to the security problem in the north , a call that was flatly rejected by the indigenous people of hausa land.
Saidu commended the indigenous people of hausa land for denouncing the call by the Chairman of Arewa , Dalhatu.
” As one of the founding fathers of Arewa Consultative forum, I know the body doesn’t support violence .I have all the constitution of the body and it is very clear”, he added.
