Acting alongside RMD, Funke Akindele surreal — Etta Jomaria

An actress, Etta Jomaria, has shared some of her most unforgettable moments in the film industry.

Speaking in an interview with Potpourri, she said: “Reflecting on my time on various sets, the opportunity to share the screen with revered veterans such as RMD, Ireti Doyle, Funke Akindele, Kalu Ikeagwu, and others has been nothing short of surreal. Each interaction enriches my craft, a testament to the collaborative spirit that fuels the industry’s creativity. Also, watching Hollywood Star David Oyelowo perform on stage in London, and having a meet and greet moment with him afterwards remains a truly cherished experience for me.”

Shedding light on her proudest moment as an actress, she added:

“My proudest moment so far was realizing that my work could truly make an impact; especially when one of my films was used in a symposium to educate teenage girls on the effects of Gender-Based Violence. And climbing the stage last year to receive the AMVCA Award for Best Scripted M-Net Series for our show Slum King, followed by having two of my projects nominated this year, felt like a beautiful affirmation of that purpose. It reminded me that meaningful storytelling does get seen, celebrated and valued.”

When asked how she prepares for a role, Jomaria explained:

“Delving into a new role is akin to embarking on a captivating journey, and my preparation process mirrors this sentiment. Extensive research serves as my foundation, delving deep into the character’s psyche through the character bible. This immersion allows me to inhabit their world authentically, infusing each portrayal with depth and nuance. Drawing from the wellspring of method acting, I bring a unique approach to every role, striving to breathe life into each character’s narrative.”
