Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA, has approved the promotion of the Head of Department, Arts Education, Dr. Kehinde Olufemi Ogunyemi, to the rank of Associate Professor, following a rigorous evaluation of his scholarly output, teaching quality and service to the institution.
The promotion, announced by the university management, marks a major career milestone for the seasoned academic, who has led the Department of Arts Education with what colleagues describe as exceptional professionalism, innovation and commitment to strengthening teacher education.
Dr. Ogunyemi, a specialist in Arts and Language Education, has published extensively in reputable local and international journals, delivered conference papers across different academic platforms and supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Many of his students, according to the university, have gone on to excel in academia, research and industry.
His scholarly contributions span language pedagogy, teacher competence, curriculum design and broader education development issues, with several research collaborations and pedagogical initiatives credited to his portfolio.
Reacting to the development, Associate Professor of Social Science Education, Dr. Samuel Olanrewaju Oladapo, described the promotion as “well-deserved and long overdue,” noting that Ogunyemi’s work “has contributed immensely to strengthening the faculty and enriching the landscape of teacher education.”
Also speaking, a colleague in the department, Dr. Stella Bolanle Apata, hailed him as “a pillar of support and an exemplar of academic dedication,” adding that his leadership as HOD had brought “stability, innovation and renewed energy” to the department.
One of his former students, now a PR and Strategic Communications professional, Barnabas Inumidun Akindele, also commended the scholar’s influence on his academic growth. Akindele recalled that Ogunyemi supervised his undergraduate research and later co-authored a paper with him in 2022, describing the collaboration as “one of the most enriching academic experiences” of his life.
The university management and the Department of Arts Education congratulated Dr. Ogunyemi on his elevation, describing it as recognition of his outstanding contributions and a vote of confidence in his continued academic leadership.
