— Ex- Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, to deliver 15th convocation lecture

The Achievers University, Owo, in Ondo state has said that a total of 705 students of the institution will be awarded degrees in its forthcoming 15th convocation ceremony.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, said that 72 students will be graduating with First Class honours.
Prof Aremu added that 653 of the graduands will receive first academic degrees, with 318 earning Second Class Upper Division, 223 Second Class Lower Division, and 40 Third Class.
According to him “49 students will graduate with higher degrees, including eight Postgraduate Diplomas, six Master of Business Administration degrees, 36 Master of Science degrees, and one Doctor of Philosophy.
The Vice Chancellor declared that the university’s improving academic profile has placed it among the most progressive private institutions in the country, with steady expansion in facilities, programmes and infrastructure.
Prof Aremu noted that the university matriculated over 1,000 new students this year, reflecting the growing public confidence in the institution.
The former information Minister, Lai Mohammed, according to him will deliver the convocation lecture, entitled ” Don’t Just Graduate, Innovate,aimed at equipping graduates with skills to compete in the labour market, scheduled for Friday.
Speaking on the institution’s achievements, the Vice Chancellor said they include the expansion of academic programmes, investment in modern infrastructure, and the establishment of two colleges – the College of Medicine and the College of Postgraduate Studies – alongside nine faculties.
Prof Aremu noted the introduction of a College and Faculty Rating System, with the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences emerging as the winner of the maiden edition.
He equally highlighted the Central Medical Sciences Laboratory as a reference point in the Nigerian University System, as well as the expansion of ICT facilities, including campus-wide Wi-Fi, a 250-seat CBT centre, and the automation of student processes.
According to him the university has strengthened partnerships with national and international institutions to create global internship and study-abroad opportunities.
Prof Aremu underscored the university’s commitment to accessible education, citing 12 fully tuition-free programmes and several partially subsidised scholarships benefiting hundreds of indigent students.
He celebrated notable student accomplishments, including Oni Favour, a final-year engineering student who presented a research work at the Optica Amplify Immersion Programme in the United States earlier this year.
The vice Chancellor also lauded Iluyemi Bisola, a First Class Accounting graduand who won the Ondo State Accountant Forum’s award for Best Final-Year Accounting Student with a CGPA of 4.87.
He said the university’s pioneer Law graduates excelled at the Nigerian Law School, where three earned First Class and eight others made Second Class Upper in the July 2025 call-to-bar results.
Prof Aremu said that the tuition-free scheme introduced by the university has so far produced 319 graduates.
The university’s convocation ceremony, according to him will also feature the conferment of honorary doctorates on the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi; a former Diplomat, Prince Roland Omowa; and a business leader Mr Folajimi Adetula.
