By Benjamin Njoku

A month-long celebration of three decades behind the camera culminated for veteran filmmaker Lancelot Imasuen when the just concluded Zuma International Film Festival honoured him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The recognition came just days after the launch of his biography, “A Trip in Motion”, at the Alliance Française de Lagos, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi.

The book, written by poet educator Godson Osarenren, capped a series of events marking Imasuen’s 30 year career and prompted the National Film Corporation (NFC) to present the award to him.

In an emotional response, Imasuen said: “Last night in Abuja I was humbled to be honoured by the Nigerian Film Corporation and the organizers of the Zuma International Film Festival with a Lifetime Achievement Award. This is a big thank you to everyone who has valued my modest contribution to the growth of the Nigerian motion picture industry—to my wife and daughters for the lonely nights, and to all my colleagues over the years.” The award underscores Imasuen’s resilience and lasting impact on Nollywood, closing a memorable anniversary celebration on a high note.
