Prince Temienor Oghenekevwe has indicated interest to represent Ughelli south state constituency from 2027 in the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), promising quality representation.
The chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), declared his intention before a mammoth gathering from the constituency at his country home in Eyara community.
Prince Temienor who spoke during an appreciation dinner he had for women from Otu-Jeremi, Imode and Eyara communities,
awarded scholarships to ten students from the constituency, a gesture that was greeted with loud applause and jubilation, particularly from the women, who described the intervention as timely and impactful.
He expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming support and large turnout, describing it as a clear sign that the people were ready for purposeful representation.
“I contested the 2023 election on the platform of the SDP and emerged third. This time, I am better prepared—not just to contest, but to win in 2027. If given the mandate, I will attract massive development to all communities in Ughelli South and work tirelessly to liberate our people from abject poverty,”he said.
He assured the women, elders and youths that his long-standing relationship with the communities would be strengthened, adding that inclusive governance, human capital development and grassroots empowerment would remain the core of his legislative agenda.
He distributed food items and cash support to the women, elders and youths.
Speaking on behalf of the women groups, Mrs. Rosline Ogide from Jeremi Ward 2 passed a vote of confidence on Prince Temienor Oghenekevwe, declaring him the preferred choice of women across the constituency. She commended his consistency, accessibility and history of supporting women and vulnerable groups, while offering prayers for divine guidance and victory in the 2027 election.
In a similar vein, elders of Eyara community, led by the oldest man in the community, Pa Tomson Miyerijesu, offered traditional prayers and blessings for the aspirant. Pa Miyerijesu described Prince Temienor as a son of the soil who understands the pains of the people and deserves the opportunity to represent Ughelli South at the state assembly.
Women leaders from Imode community, including Mrs. Evlin Samuel, Mrs. Mary Otaoghene and Mrs. Elizabeth Sunny Tiborkapor Ekpo, also expressed their support, praising the SDP chieftain for his empowerment initiatives and commitment to community development.
Prince Temienor Oghenekevwe, a Delta State-born politician, is widely known for his grassroots engagement and was the SDP candidate for Ughelli South Constituency in the 2023 Delta State House of Assembly election. With the early endorsement from women, elders and youths, political observers say his 2027 ambition has gained significant momentum across the constituency.
