Nigerian singer Waje has revealed why she chooses not to have an opinion about the famous Psquare brothers’ split.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the award-winning vocalist explained that her stance is rooted in her understanding of family dynamics and personal boundaries.
“I try not to have opinions about these things because I have a family. I have siblings. Sometimes, you can decide the kind of friends you want, but you can never decide the kind of family you come from,” she said.
According to Waje, being grounded in family means understanding that differences are inevitable and that sometimes, love from a distance is necessary.
“Being fully grounded in family means understanding that they will always be different from you. And sometimes, you have to make the decision to say, ‘You know what? I can love you from afar.’ We cannot have an opinion because we don’t know the crux of the matter, and we don’t know how each situation affects them individually,” she added.
The singer also spoke about her standards in relationships, emphasizing that she cannot marry a man who is not successful.
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s, so we are not growing together. A man leads — he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success is part of it. Faith and emotional intelligence are also part of it,” she said.
