Production has commenced on The Killer: When the Masquerade Weeps, a new feature film currently being shot across locations in Oyo State. The project is the latest from Lagos-based studio 14011 Motion Pictures.

The film follows the story of a hitman struggling with guilt after taking the life of a woman. His world changes when he decides to protect her daughter, a choice that draws the fury of the girl’s brother, who sets out to avenge their mother. The narrative explores themes of remorse, revenge, cultural identity and the consequences of violence.

Written and directed by Lanre Obisesan, the project features a cast that includes Gabriel Afolayan, Keppy Ekpenyong, Omowunmi Dada, Tina Mba, Rotimi Fakunle and Tubosun Odunsi.

Obisesan described the film as a character-driven thriller that examines the complexities of guilt and redemption, saying the production aims to deliver an emotionally grounded and visually compelling experience.

Producer Felix Olojede said the film raises questions about the possibility of redemption for those with violent pasts, noting that the weight of the characters’ decisions forms the core of the story’s tension.

The Killer: When the Masquerade Weeps is expected to be submitted to film festivals before heading to cinemas.
