The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has praised the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for swiftly resolving delays in the production of driver’s licenses across the country, following recent concerns over service delivery lapses.
In a statement issued by PEBEC Director General, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, the Council confirmed that the FRSC took “prompt and comprehensive” action after receiving a formal communication on November 7, 2025, outlining nationwide complaints over production delays.
According to the Council, the Corps immediately launched an internal review, identified the root causes of the disruption within the national driver’s licence production system, and restored full system functionality. PEBEC said the FRSC also introduced improved monitoring mechanisms to prevent a recurrence.
PEBEC further commended the Corps for successfully clearing the accumulated backlog and expanding its daily production capacity to 15,000 licences. This, the Council said, marks “an important milestone in strengthening efficiency and responsiveness in public service delivery.”
Audu also highlighted what she described as a “forward-looking innovation” — the FRSC’s rollout of the Contactless Biometric Capture System. The new system is designed to enable the issuance of permanent driver’s licences within 48 hours, eliminating the need for temporary licences.
“This innovation aligns strongly with PEBEC’s mandate to promote regulatory efficiency, improve transparency, and enhance the citizen experience,” she stated.
The Council encouraged all applicants whose licences have been produced to proceed to FRSC centres nationwide to collect them. This follows an ongoing sensitisation campaign by the Corps urging Nigerians to pick up more than 294,000 unclaimed licences. PEBEC noted that increased collection will ease congestion at centres and support faster service delivery.
Reaffirming its broader commitment, the Council said it will continue to work with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure “seamless, responsive, and business-friendly” public services across Nigeria.
