ABUJA – A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Maryam Shetty, Wednesday, expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome insecurity challenges.
Speaking from the Holy Land in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Shetty said the issues are real but with the unity and strength of Nigerians, the country will pull through based on the resilience, doggedness, and focus of the people, the elements fueling insecurity will be subdued.
Being a former ministerial, she said she is confident that the current situation will be brought under control, therefore, urged Nigerians not to lose hope but with courage shall confront and overcome them.
“Our spirit has never been defined by challenges, but by the courage with which we confront them,” Shetty wrote in a message circulated on social media platforms reminding the people that they, too, must strive for unity and stand strong in the face of “adversity”.
Meanwhile, her assertions are on the heels of the high profile kidnappings and attacks that have intensified and triggered national anxiety that have pressured President Bola Tinubu’s administration from within and outside, which the Presidentalso has ordered a security overhaul, including withdrawing police officers from protecting VIPs, and also postponed his foreign trips to address the crisis.
Meanwhile, the APC stalwart emphasised the collective power of the Nigerian people, noting that “hope remains our greatest asset” during this period of national trial.
She urged citizens to “draw strength from prayers and continued belief in our nation, in our collective strength, and in the brighter future we are building together.”
She (Shetty) concluded with a firm declaration of faith in Nigeria’s recovery, asserting that the country “will rise through this, stronger, wiser, and more united in sha Allah!”
