Governor Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

Thirty-eight persons abducted in the recent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained their freedom after days of intensive operations by security agencies and coordinated government efforts.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) said their release was made possible by the hands-on intervention of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who led the push for their rescue.

Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to the Governor, the abductees were freed today, 23 November, following sustained security operations. He expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for personally driving the rescue efforts.

Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the President had cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to address the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States. He added that the President subsequently ordered heightened security deployments to Kwara, underscoring his commitment to the safety of citizens.
The Governor also extended appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser; the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigerian Army; the Nigeria Intelligence Agency; and the Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four additional tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive.
He further thanked security personnel across services, community leaders, religious bodies, and residents of Kwara State for their support and solidarity throughout the ordeal.
