ABUJA – A Civil Society Organization, CSO, Bridging Social Inclusion Gaps Initiative, BISIGI, Africa, Friday, urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts on securing schools across the country.

The Executive Director, BISIGI Africa, Tina Chidi, made the call in a statement signed by herself, where she said her organization is really saddened by the abduction of 25 girls from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.

Chidi said most of the government and private schools across the country are exposed to possible attacks as seen in Kebbi while she recalled past incidents of school children abductions of Chibok in Borno,  Yobe, and Kaduna States.

The 25 school girls were abducted on November 17, 2025, which resulted in the killing of the school’s Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, in which also two of the girls escaped from their abductors as government is on the rescue of the remaining girls from their abductors.

She said: “We at Bridging Social Inclusion Gaps Initiative, BISIGI, Africa, are deeply pained about the barbaric act of bandits who abducted the 25 school girls at Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.

“This is really unacceptable and we vehemently condemn it, and we are using this medium to urge the Federal Government to intensify efforts to ensure both public and private schools are well secured.

She added that, “The recurring abduction of students including what we witnessed as a country in parts of the north including university students is sending a wrong signal to the international community.

“A holistic solution is urgently needed to stop these attacks seen in Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Kebbi, Niger and other States. We want the Tinubu-led administration to work with community leaders and youth to complement the efforts of the security agencies that would man the schools.”

However, she (Chidi) said, her organization is concerned about the confidence of parents and students in the school system that is prone to incessant attacks and abductions, hence the needful needs to be done to boost their confidence.

Meanwhile, BISIGI Africa extended its sympathy to the parents of the abducted girls saying they believe by the mercy of God they will be rescued.

“We express our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased Vice Principal who was killed during the kidnap of the girls from his school. We pray God to grant you the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“We also believe that the abducted girls would be safely rescued from the bandits. So, please keep praying and trusting in God for their safe rescue and return”, she added.
