The Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, has urged youth delegates representing the council at the African Union Leadership Youth Summit in Ethiopia to be exemplary ambassadors of Apapa, Lagos State, and Nigeria.

The summit, themed “Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice for African Youth and People of African Descent Through Reparation,” brings together young leaders from across the continent to engage in discussions on justice, unity, and development.

Addressing the delegates at a farewell meeting in Apapa, Senbanjo charged them to make the most of the opportunity by showcasing the discipline, excellence, and innovation for which Apapa youths are known.

She encouraged them to vie for leadership positions at the summit and to share the insights gained with other youths upon their return to promote growth at the grassroots.

“You carry the hopes of Apapa, Lagos, and Nigeria,” Senbanjo said. “Represent us with pride, participate actively, and bring home experiences that can inspire change and progress among our youths.”

The Lagos APC Youth Leader and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Dr. Seriki Murtala Ishola, also commended the Executive Chairman for her consistent investment in youth empowerment.

He described her as a visionary leader who has created avenues for young people in Apapa to thrive both locally and internationally.

Dr. Seriki urged the delegates to view their participation not merely as a privilege but as a call to leadership, responsibility, and service.

“You are not just attending a summit; you are carrying the identity of Lagos and Nigeria. Uphold the values of discipline, integrity, and excellence wherever you go,” he said.

He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment under Senbanjo’s leadership to continue empowering young people through training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.

The four delegates representing Apapa and Nigeria at the summit are, Comrade Idoko Samuel, Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria (Apapa Chapter) – under the Egypt delegation; Comrade Lukman Barakat, PRO, NYCN (Apapa Chapter) – under the Burundi delegation; Comrade Adedipe Taiye, President, United Apapa Youth Forum – under the Seychelles delegation and Mr. Oluwasanya Oluwatosin, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman – under the Ethiopia delegation.
