Two hundred young people in Lagos are being trained and placed in paid internships as part of an initiative to equip youths with market-ready skills and reduce unemployment in the state.
The programme, implemented under the LSETF-GIZ Employability Support Project and supported by the German and Swiss governments through the Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE II) scheme, is being delivered in partnership with Obsidian Advisory Africa.
Its first cohort, launched on July 1, 2025, trained 100 participants in customer service, sales support, and administrative roles.
The four-week training, held at Bridge by Obsidian in Yaba, Lagos, covered technical and soft skills including workplace communication, telemarketing, inventory management, CRM tools, digital sales, and job readiness.
Graduates are now beginning three-month paid internships with businesses across Lagos, offering practical industry experience and a pathway to long-term employment.
“This program is about bridging talents to opportunities,” said Damilola Ademilokun, CEO of Obsidian Advisory Africa.
“We’re proud to see our first cohort complete their training journey and begin their internships. The growth we’ve witnessed in just a few weeks is proof of what’s possible when young people are supported with the right tools and environment.”
