Former Presidential Spokesperson, Reno Omokri has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate a video in which he was tagged, showing a Nigerian threatening his life. According to Omokri, this is not the first time he is receiving threats to his life because he is supporting president Bola Tinubu’s government.

He said in some time past, some people he believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had trailed him to his residence in the United Kingdom as well as his jogging routes to threaten him and his family.  Omokri said such threats have put his life and those of his family members in danger. He also claimed that he had equally received threats from a popular media personality in the past.

Meanwhile, Omokri, in the petition to the IGP, also said that the person in the recent video threat “is a supporter of former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.”

He called on the IGP to investigate the matter and possibly bring the person to book.

The petition reads, “On Saturday, July 12, 2025, I was tagged on a video by a person, purporting to be a supporter of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, by name Justice Ozobi, who threatened that he would kill me on sight anywhere he finds me.

“The video can be viewed online via this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1AbapKBgT6/?mibextid=wwXIfr

“In the event that the culprit deletes the video, I have also saved it and can provide the said recording to the Nigerian Police.

“In view of the fact that supporters of Mr. Peter Obi have in the past trailed me to my residence in the United Kingdom, and also traced me to my daily jogging route, where they threatened to kill me if I do not leave Peter Obi alone and end my support for President Bola Tinubu, I have fears for the safety of my family.

“I have in the past brought such threats directly to Mr. Peter Obi’s attention, but I was disappointed that Mr. Obi told me verbally and in writing (I can provide evidence of this) that the threats were being made by supporters of President Tinubu masquerading as Obidients, even when I provided him with incontrovertible proof that such is not the case.

“Consequently, I appeal to the Nigerian Police to investigate this threat to my life and help assure my safety as a law-abiding citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” It concluded
