The Lagos State Government is considering a major comeback—for the once-popular monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
Suspended in 2016 due to the challenges of restricting movement in a megacity, the exercise may now return as part of broader efforts to tackle flooding, poor waste management, and clogged drainage systems across the state.
During a recent inspection of key areas like Idi-Araba, Orile Iganmu, and Alaba Rago, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stressed the need to make sanitation a daily habit.
He confirmed that reintroducing the monthly cleanup, once held every last Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m., is being reviewed by the State Executive Council.
