By Akpokona Omafuaire, UGHELLI

AN Ijaw leader and All Progressive Congress, APC, Chieftain from Gbaramatu kingdom of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, High Chief Michael Johnny has given the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, a 21 day ultimatum to complete everything act relating to the Warri Federal Constituency Supreme Court ordered delineation or face massive protests.

A visibly angry Johnny gave the order at his Effurun residence during a press briefing yesterday.

The APC leader accused INEC of delaying the process because of fear of threats and campaigns against it by their Itsekiri neighbours.

Johnny said it has become imperative for INEC to conclude the exercise as tension is rising by the delays and that of race in the area could no longer be guaranteed if the delay lingers on.

“I have come here to address this press conference to let the world know the implications of the delay by INEC in completing this ward and polling units delineation ordered by the Supreme Court.” He said.

“This press conference is to warn INEC that time is running against them. People are running out of patience waiting for INEC the process for the purpose of equity and fairness.

“Failure to do so, the security in the oil bearing communities cannot be guaranteed by leaders like us who have been trying to ensure that the Supreme Court orders to INEC is carried out.

“Let it also be known that the ward delineation ordered has nothing to do with Tantita Security job, so people shouldn’t be using that as blackmail.

“Let us make it very clear and open that there is no indigenous company that can stick out its neck to do what Tantita Security is doing for the nation in the Niger Delta region by helping to boost the economy.

“This is the risk that Tompolo is taking for the country, he needs to be commended and not blackmailed. There are others who holds similar contracts in the region without results.

“Mr. President should know the injustice that the Urhobos and Ijaws in the Warri Federal Constituency have been suffering and ensure that INEC completes this process.

“If in 21 day, INEC fails to complete this process despite the peaceful disposition we have maintained, we can no longer tolerate it but we shall embark on massive protests that will disrupt oil production so that the world will know that we have the capacity to also protest.” He added..
