A youth ambassador with the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Mr Ogunsanya Enoch has stressed the need for undergraduates to possess digital skills, describing it essential for survival just as academic degrees.

Speaking at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU’s, The Ife Education Conference, IEC 3.0, held at the University campus, Ile-Ife, he said digital skills in the contemporary world is necessary for every undergraduates who focused on excelling in the competitive world outside the school.

Enoch moved beyond the conventional definition of education, challenging the audience to redefine what it means to be truly educated in today’s Nigeria.

He further emphasized that digital awareness, skill acquisition, and emotional intelligence are now just as critical as academic credentials, especially in a generation overwhelmed by distractions and quick gratification.

Drawing from his own experience as a serial entrepreneur, digital educator, and youth empowerment advocate, he said, “you must remain resilient through failure and reinvention, balance between academics, business, and personal growth and explore the power of mentorship as well as intentional relationships.

“As undergraduates, you should leverage on use of social media as a tool for empowerment rather than distraction.

“Education is not just about earning a degree; it’s about building capacity, character, and courage to face real-world challenges,” he noted.

The conference, themed, “The Ripple Effect: How Education Fuels Progress in Every Sector,” organised by Education Students’ Association of Nigeria (ESAN-OAU), saw Enoch presented with an Excellence Service Award, recognising his exceptional contribution to youth development and educational advocacy.
