The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos in collaboration with Huaxing Arts Troupe Nigeria, Association of Chinese Women in Nigeria and China Industrial ans Commercial Enterprise Association, recently brought joy to the Fazil Omar Ahmmadiyya (FOA) Primary School in Okokomaiko, Lagos.

Recall that the Chinese community renovated FOA Primary School, Okokomaiko and equipped the school with borehole water and generator, give scholarships and help over 400 cataract patients through surgery.‎

The event, Nigeria and China Cultural Exchange (Walk-in School Activities) featured the Chinese Consul-General in Lagos initiative ‘Together Fight Against Hunger’ Charity programme.‎

Speaking at the event, the Director of Administration of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Liu Rui, emphasized the Consulate’s ongoing commitment to supporting the vulnerable, downtrodden, aged and the low income earners.

‎Liu said: “This project is designed to provide essential assistance to students and their families, ensuring that financial constraints do not become barriers to their educational achievement. By supporting these families, we aim to create an environment where students can focus on their studies without worrying about their next meal.

‎”We are investing in the future of both our nations. Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and bridge-builders who will continue to strengthen the bonds between China and Nigeria.

“‎Also speaking, Chairman of the Hua Xing Arts Troupe Nigeria, Dr Eric Ni said: “Children are the future of a nation, we the Chinese community are desire to uplift and empower Nigerian students and the families.‎

“We recognize the incredible potential within each child and we want to ensure that their dreams aren’t limited by their circumstances. We aim to ease the burden on parents who work tirelessly, often with limited resources, to provide for their children.‎

“This isn’t just about giving; it’s about investing. We’re investing in bright futures, in a stronger community, and in the promise of a better tomorrow. We believe that education is a powerful tool, and by removing some of the financial obstacles, we can help these young minds flourish.”

Meanwhile, the secretary to the local government of Iba Local Community Development Area (LCDA) Adekanbi Taiwo Musa, who represented the Executive Chairman, Mr Yisa Abiola Jubril, commended the Chinese community for their generosity which has impacted on the community.

Jubril noted that it will foster stronger ties, bring people together and build positive relationships.

The ‘Together We Fight Against Hunger’ project will this week move to Federal Housing Estate Primary School and Victoria Island Primary School, both in Victoria Island, Lagos, where another 40 families will receive food items.

The Huaxing Arts Troupe was also on ground to display Chinese cultural dances, power of martial arts demonstrations and a variety of musical performances.‎

One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of food items to 43 families in the low-income bracket within the community.Each family received food items worth ₦300,000.
