Unite for a breakthrough, by Funmi Komolafe

Unite for a breakthrough, by Funmi Komolafe

Beloved, we thank God for taking us through the first six months of the year.  We’ve just gone past half of the month of June.  May God help us end this year joyfully in Jesus name.

I hope you got a Father’s blessing on the occasion of Father’s Day last Sunday.

If you missed it, its not too late to get a Father’s blessing.

Either from a biological or spiritual father, you need blessings from a Father.

Today, many   families are going through a lot of stress. . It is even more for couples waiting on the Lord for one thing or the other.

They are not only going through emotional stress but also financial stress.

How do I mean?

Fertility treatment  has gone up so much that many couples cannot afford it.  So, they  are subjected to emotional and financial stress.

However, this isn’t the time to resign to fate.

When challenges seem overwhelming, it is time for the couple to be united in prayer for them to have a breakthrough.

Even where medical   issues are identified as the cause of infertility, the solution does not lie in blaming a partner as this would not produce the desired break though.

Brethren, it is  also not the time to murmur neither is it the time to open your life issues to friends or even relations.

Jesus said to his disciples in Acts 1 vs. 7&8 ( KJV) : “ And he said  unto them, it is not for you to know the times  or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

But ye shall receive power, after  that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:  and ye shall be witnesses  unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria  and unto the uttermost part of the earth”.

The passage tells us that the time that the  power of God  that would bring in our breakthrough  is determined by God and God only.

The disciples needed the power of the Holy Ghost to be able to   break yokes, deliver people from demonic forces and bring miracles to physical manifestation.

So how did the apostles receive power.  Acts 1  vs. 13&14 : “ And when  they were come in,  they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon  Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

These all continued   with one accord in prayer  and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his  brethren”.

Simply put,  the disciples were united in prayer.  They had a common goal to fulfill the assignment of the Lord Jesus.

Let’s see what happened in Acts 2 vs.  2-4 : “ And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there  appeared  unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.

Quite a number of lessons for us  here.

First is that the disciples were in one accord.  Brother and Sister waiting on the LORD for the fruit of the womb, are you in one accord? If not, you need to set aside your differences  and be in once accord  to overcome any challenge.  Be it barrenness, poverty or  any other challenge.

Secondly, note the word Suddenly. Power from above came suddenly.   This confirms that it is only God that determines when the power for conception would enter into a woman. Not even doctors can state the exact date and time that a woman conceived. Most women suddenly discover they are pregnant even when the husband is said to have low or no sperm count.

The third lesson is that when the  disciples received power, it became visible to  those who didn’t know when they began to pray.

In the same way, when the pregnancy begins to develop, everyone would see that a baby is on the way.

Brethren, whatever that challenge is, you need  the power of God to have a break through.

Remember the Virgin Mary asked  the angel that appeared to her . Luke 1 vs. 34: “ Then said  Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing  I know not a  man?

The angel replied in vs.35: “ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God”.

My prayer for you is that God will give you a miracle that would be beyond human knowledge in the mighty name of Jesus.

Beloved, we are  on the issue of  “ Couple Unity”.   To overcome a challenge, the couple must be united in thoughts and prayer to present the case to God.  Both must have faith and trust in God. They must also create time to pray together.    God is not likely to visit a home that is not united.

Psalm 133 vs. 1-3 says it all. “ Beloved, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity!

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aron’s beard: that  went  down to the skirts of his garments;

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore”.

In this Bible passage, we see the emphasis on unity and the blessing that followed.

It is therefore important that couples are united in confronting a challenge.

Relations and friends   that advise a partner to break a  marriage vow  and engage in extra marital affairs  are  not genuine well-wishers.

 Beware of such people.

However, unity in the home is not a necessity for couples with  childbearing challenges alone.

Even couples that have children  also need unity to overcome other  challenges such as poverty, sickness, stagnation etc.

A time like this is not the time to murmur.

Don’t begin to say to yourself  that six months have past and God has  answered my prayer.

God and not you determine the time of God’s intervention.

Murmuring displeases God and God is unlikely to please those that displease him.

See what happened when the children of Israel murmured against the LORD.

Numbers 11 vs. 1 :” And when the people complained, it displeased  the LORD: and the LORD heard it; ad his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp”.

The act of murmuring is a demonstration of lack of faith and trust in God. Whereas, praise singing demonstrates our faith and confidence in God.

It doesn’t matter what the challenge is, God is able.

We must always bear in mind that  the power of the living God is unlimited.

The Lord often shows up when we least expect.

I’ll share a testimony in a popular Pentecostal church.

The woman wrote “ I prayed for my daughter who had a delay in getting married and was over 30 years that the LORD should hasten  His plans over her life and that because of the delay, the Lord should  compensate her with early pregnancy  and I made a vow, that one month pension payment would be used as a  seed of my devotion and commitment to His response. Amazingly, God did ns I proposed  hence  this  payment of my one month pension as the vow”.

Beloved, this mother and her daughter must have been in a prayer of agreement but her mother took a bold step of making a vow and they got the miracle.

Awake from spiritual slumber this sixth month and see the LORD do wonders in your life.

God is waiting for you.
