Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has affirmed that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is yielding positive results, bringing prosperity to Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Sanwo-Olu made this statement on Sunday during the official handover of three additional 12-coach trains for the Blue Line Rail operations. The ceremony took place at the National Theatre, Iganmu.

Present at the brief event were key government officials, including the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso; Special Adviser on Transportation, Sola Giwa; and the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Abimbola Akinajo.

Expressing gratitude to President Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu noted that the acquisition of the new coaches was made possible through financial support from the federal government.

“With these new sets, we are doubling the capacity on the Blue Line. There will be a reduction in travel time, quicker turnaround, and a more reliable commuting experience,” the governor said. “Trains will begin arriving every 10 to 15 minutes.”

Highlighting President Tinubu’s support, he continued: “About a year and a half ago, Mr. President, in his usual understanding of what sub-nationals are doing under his Renewed Hope Agenda, supported us financially to deliver these new coaches. Now, we can see that his agenda is working for us in Lagos.”

Sanwo-Olu also announced that more coaches are expected on the Red Line before the end of the year. He said the Red Line trains would be even larger than those on the Blue Line.

He added that the new additions will reduce the cost of operations and enhance affordability for the state, while all safety measures will be observed during installation.

“Phase two of the Blue Line, from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, is underway. The stations and tracks are progressing on schedule,” Sanwo-Olu said. “We urge residents to remain hopeful. The dividends of democracy are becoming visible—and this is just the beginning.”

The governor emphasized that the new train sets form part of a broader strategy to modernize Lagos’ transportation network and position the state as a model for sustainable urban mobility in Africa.
