The Federal Government of Nigeria has been tasked to take concerted effort to tackle product adulteration.

The Chairman of Sigma Coatings Nigeria Limited, Robert Agbede, made the call at the commissioning of the Company’s new distribution facility at Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Agbede noted that product adulteration is affecting operation of genuine firms, calling on the government to guide against it.

He noted that Sigma is moving to make heavy investment in the South-South region of the nation in order to tackle adulteration of its products that is taking place in the area.

Agbede said: “We have good products, and we will do not compromise on quality and our values. Sigma Coatings Nigeria Ltd is a lead manufacturer of protective and marine coatings for over 20 years and the new facility here in Port Harcourt is a celebration of another milestone in its journey of producing cutting edge products and services.

Agbede recalled that he was invited to be part of PPG, where he started as a minority shareholder and became 100 percent shareholder overtime.

He said the journey to Port Harcourt is a simple yet clear vision to bring world class protective and marine coatings closer to industries and drive progress in the region through the trust of our customers.

The chairman said: “Our physical presence here implies guarding against imitation and adulteration and subsequently, we intend having a full production here in the South/South not less than what we have in Lagos and any other places where we have our branches, so that our customers can enjoy premium quality.”

However, the Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Lead for Special Projects, Sigma Coatings, Oluwaseyi Ajai, affirmed that the new facility is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to the region where they get about 80 percent of their customers.
