The Federal Government says WAEC and NECO will fully switch to computer-based testing (Cbt) by 2026. Objective questions are expected to go digital from 2025, with essay papers joining the move a year later. According to the Minister of Education, this new system should make exams more efficient and reduce malpractice.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers thinks going digital won’t solve the problem. Concerns have also been raised about How some students and teachers, especially in rural areas, don’t even have access to computers, reliable electricity, or internet.
