The Muslim Community of Lagos State has called on Muslims to use this occasion of the new Hijrah (Islamic Year) to reaffirm their commitment to the core principles of Islam, including justice, compassion, truthfulness, and unity.
The President of the Ummah, Hon Muhammed Oyinlomo Danmole expressed gratitude for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness this significant spiritual milestone – the beginning of the new Hijrah year, 1447 AH.
In a statement signed by the President, the Muslim Community extended warm greetings to Muslims across the state and beyond. “Alhamdulillāh for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness the beginning of a new Hijrah year,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of this occasion for reflection and renewal of faith.
The Hijrah, which commemorates the migration of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and his companions from Mecca to Medina, serves as a reminder of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. “The Hijrah reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and his companions as they migrated for the sake of preserving.
Addressing the community, Danmole urged believers to purify their intentions and strengthen bonds of brotherhood. “As we begin this new year, let us purify our intentions, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, uphold peace, and contribute positively to our communities,” he said.
The community leader also prayed for divine guidance and protection, asking Allah (SWT) for mercy upon their state, leaders, families, and the entire Ummah.
Danmole expressed hope that 1447 AH would be a year of peace, prosperity, progress, and spiritual elevation. “May Allah make this year one of peace, prosperity, progress, and spiritual elevation for us all. Āmīn.Hijrah Mubārak!” he declared.
