ABUJA — The organizers of the prestigious Megastar Man of the Decade Awards have announced the official opening of nominations for the 2025 edition of the ceremony, calling on the public across Africa to submit names of trailblazers who have made notable contributions in their respective fields.

In addition to the award preparations, Megastar Magazine is set to commission a landmark Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project on Wednesday, July 16, as part of its broader commitment to societal development. The project will benefit Junior Secondary School, Solake, Dutse, Alhaji, in Abuja, and includes the donation of classroom furniture and the construction of a solar-powered modern restroom facility.

Speaking ahead of the CSR commissioning and awards rollout, event convener Adeniyi Ifetayo expressed optimism about the upcoming edition, promising an event that will surpass the success of 2024.

“This year’s event will build on the frenzy of the 2024 edition and will deliver a stellar show while celebrating some of Africa’s best minds across board,” Ifetayo said.

The 2025 edition will spotlight excellence in four key sectors crucial to Africa’s economic and social advancement:

Maritime: Celebrating individuals revolutionizing Africa’s shipping and port services.

Energy (Oil & Gas): Recognizing contributors to energy infrastructure and innovation.

Sports: Honoring athletes, coaches, and sports administrators advancing African sports globally.

Governance and Business: Highlighting political and business leaders driving sustainable development and prosperity.

“These four industries represent the backbone of Africa’s development journey,” Ifetayo noted. “By celebrating excellence in these sectors, we aim to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators across the continent.”

He assured that full details regarding the event format, venue, and program schedule will be unveiled in the coming weeks, while encouraging Africans across the continent to submit nominations for impactful figures whose work has transcended borders.

The 2024 edition, held on December 1, 2024, at the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Abuja, set a new standard in recognizing African achievement. The star-studded ceremony featured a high-level panel discussion themed “Social Enterprise: A Catalyst for Development in Nigeria” and included prominent guests such as Senator Ned Nwoko, Ambassador Lawrence Emmanuel Oloche, and veteran publisher Chief Dele Momodu.

That edition also honored the Governor of Nasarawa State and several other distinguished leaders, reinforcing the awards’ status as a credible and high-impact platform for acknowledging leadership and excellence.

With the 2025 nominations now open and the commissioning of a N17.6 million CSR initiative imminent, Megastar Magazine is poised to continue its dual mission of celebrating success while directly contributing to education and youth development in Nigeria.
