The Department of Public Relations and Advertising (PRAD), Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Lagos State University (LASU), is set to receive state-of-the-art studio equipment, including desktop computers, from the Alima Atta Foundation.

A statement by Professor Rotimi Olatunji noted that the gesture, which is aimed at digitizing the PRAD Studio, is expected to positively impact teaching and learning at the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.

According to Professor Olatunji: “The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the passing of the esteemed founder, philanthropist, and pioneering figure in the public relations industry in Nigeria—Ms. Alima Atta, former CEO of SESEMA PR Ltd.

“The unveiling of the equipment will take place at the Senate Building of the University on June 6, 2025, where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Iyabo Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, PhD, will host the Alima Atta Foundation.”

The statement also quoted the Acting Head of PRAD, Dr. Julius Adeyemo, as saying: “The donation represents the latest in a series of continuous support initiatives from the Foundation. These include training opportunities for academic staff, internship placements for female students in the Department, and the donation of Alima Atta Studio equipment.

“The Foundation also sponsors an annual prize for the best graduating female student in Public Relations, presented during LASU’s convocation ceremonies. The Foundation awarded its fifth prize in the series at the last convocation of the institution, held in April 2025.”

Dr. Adeyemo further explained: “The Alima Atta Foundation was established in 2020 as a non-profit organization to continue the philanthropic legacy of the late Ms. Alima Atta, a leading figure in the public relations industry in Nigeria.

“The Foundation is committed to the advancement of girl-child education, particularly in the areas of public relations and communication.

“Ms. Alima Atta made a significant impact on the Nigerian media space through community empowerment, professional development in public relations, education, and advocacy for equal opportunities for the girl child.”
