The 2025 NPA/Shoreline Ibadan International Polo Tournament is set to kick off on June 9, 2025, at the Ibadan Polo Club Ground, Eleyele Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.

At a press conference held at the Polo Club Ground, tournament chairman Abimbola Adeyemi revealed that the event will feature 18 teams, including top polo players from Nigeria and abroad, competing for major prizes and subsidiary awards over an exciting seven-day period.

Sponsored by Shoreline Energy International alongside prominent companies such as Bluechip Technologies, IHS Towers of Strength, MTN, Macadams, and Lead City University, the tournament will showcase 10 away teams and eight home teams across three competitive categories: the Ade Alakija Memorial Cup, the Rotimi Cup (+3 to +7), and the Shoreline Cup.

Adeyemi expressed optimism about the tournament, stating, “This year’s edition promises to be exciting. We have chosen June and hope for good weather. Every game promises to be a hit. Sponsorships are really good.”

“Things are looking better, both off and on the field. The Ibadan Cup is unfinished business. A team had to withdraw last year. This year will be highly interesting.”

He added, “We have new entrants from Port Harcourt, Katsina, Lagos, and Ibadan. It promises to be seven days of fun, both on and off the field.”

To ensure a safe environment for all participants and spectators, Adeyemi assured that maximum security and standard medical facilities would be in place, including three well-equipped ambulances on standby.

He also promised an exciting entertainment lineup, featuring live bands, DJs, karaoke, and other activities planned daily to enhance the tournament experience.

Entertainment Secretary Mr. Fela Yomi-Layinka emphasized the commitment to providing premium entertainment for fans of Nigeria’s oldest competitive sport.
