Digital Dreams ICT Academy joined the rest of the nation in celebrating Children’s Day with a vibrant and educational tech festival at the Oakland Hotel, Enugu. The event brought together over 200 children from diverse backgrounds, accompanied by their parents and guardians, for a day of interactive learning, exciting competitions, and pure fun.
Mr. Vincent Ugwuaba officially opened the celebration, and in his welcome address, he expressed appreciation to parents for their ongoing support. He stated the importance of exposing children to digital tools and critical thinking skills at an early age.
“Children’s Day is our way of giving back to the future of our children,” he said. “This event is not just about entertainment; it’s about introducing young minds to the digital world. Activities like virtual reality games, chess, ludo, and typing sharpen accuracy and concentration, which are key skills in the digital age.”
The tech-themed celebration featured a wide range of interactive games and contests, including virtual reality (VR) experiences, typing competitions, video games, ludo, chess and a dance contest. The activities were carefully curated to blend education with entertainment, in line with the Academy’s mission to promote digital literacy and innovation among children.
Several young participants emerged as winners in the various competitions. In the Ludo tournament, Chinecherem Oyeako claimed first place, with Precious Ikeosinachi coming in second. The typing contest saw Ike King David take the top spot, followed by Azineke Fallon in second place.
Speaking after his typing victory, Azineke Fallon shared his excitement:
“I’m so happy I can show how fast and accurately I can type. I’ve been practicing, and I’m proud of myself.”
For many of the children, it was a day of firsts. Ugochukwu Nnadi, who experienced virtual reality gaming for the first time, expressed his delight:
“This is my first time trying VR games, and I had fun. Thank you, Digital Dreams!”
Parents also lauded the initiative, describing it as a valuable contribution to their children’s development.
“I commend Digital Dreams for dedicating their time and resources to such a meaningful program,” applauded Mrs. Agatha Abba.
Mrs. Aneke, another parent, added, “I’m so glad my children were part of this educational event. We’ll definitely be back next year!”
The event concluded with a prize presentation ceremony led by Marian Lotachukwu, where the Winners of the Ludo and typing competitions were awarded branded T-shirts and educational scholarships. First-place winners received full scholarships to attend the upcoming Kids’ Coding Bootcamp in August, while second-place winners received a 50% discount on course fees. The winners of the dance competition all received branded Digital Dreams T-shirts as tokens of appreciation.
In her closing remarks, Marian Lotachukwu announced the launch of the Weekend Kids’ Code Lab, an eight-week virtual digital learning program that began on May 17, 2025. The program offers hands-on training in web design, Scratch programming, and graphic design, providing children with practical skills in creativity, logic, and digital expression. The virtual format ensures that children from across Nigeria, not just Enugu, can participate.
“We believe every child deserves a head start in technology,” Marian emphasized. “Early exposure to digital tools helps children become more confident in problem-solving, creative expression, and succeeding in the digital world.”
With laughter, cheers, and a renewed passion for learning, the 2025 Children’s Day celebration stands as a testament to Digital Dreams ICT Academy’s dedication to empowering the next generation through digital education. The Academy continues to inspire and equip young minds for a future shaped by technology.
