In a dazzling prelude to its official launch, UniLife, the groundbreaking Nollywood drama series, was celebrated with a star-studded event at 9jaStudio’s production facility in Magodo, Lagos. The gathering brought together an exciting mix of cast members, production crew, entertainment leaders, influencers, and media representatives, all united in anticipation of a show set to revolutionize storytelling for Africa’s young adults.

The launch event was streamed live on 9jaStudio’s YouTube channel, allowing fans across the globe to join the festivities. By 6 PM, guests were seated banquet-style within the studio’s spacious double-volume space, eagerly watching the first three episodes of UniLife on their mobile devices. The episodes, rich with suspense, romance, and intrigue, captivated the audience, whose reactions ranged from heartfelt emotion to electrifying excitement—proof of the series’ powerful resonance with young viewers hungry for authentic and thrilling narratives.

UniLife follows a vibrant group of Nigerian university students as they navigate the complexities of campus life—the friendships, the pressures, and the search for identity. What begins as a relatable coming-of-age drama soon spirals into a gripping thriller after the disappearance and tragic death of a fellow student shakes the university community to its core.

Mr. Frank Adekunle Macaulay, the visionary Founder, Producer, and Showrunner of 9jaStudio, explains the deeper mission behind the series: “It’s about telling the truth of our youth with courage, creativity, and conviction. UniLife dives deep into the real life wahala: peer pressure, cultism, religion, class struggles, the hustle for identity that take place on our campuses.”

The premiere also showcased rising stars from 9jaStudio’s Screen Acting Boot Camp, SABC, where many cast members received intensive training in screen acting techniques. With a predominantly Gen-Z cast and crew, UniLife embodies the fresh energy and perspectives defining a new era in Nollywood.

Following the premiere, new episodes will be released every Thursday throughout June, starting with Episode 4 on June 5 and culminating in the series finale on June 26. Macaulay, who brings over two decades of experience mentoring young creatives, is committed to telling authentic Nigerian youth stories that mainstream media often neglects. Through 9jaStudio, he aims to amplify the voices of the next generation with bold and genuine content.

Highlighting 9jaStudio’s commitment to talent development, Macaulay described the SABC program as a bespoke training platform designed to equip aspiring actors and filmmakers with hands-on, immersive experiences that pave the way for industry entry. “Our goal is to discover the stars of tomorrow today,” he said.

Joining the conversation virtually, Executive Producer Mr. Olatunde “Ed” Ayoola expressed his optimism: “The drama series represents what we as young Nigerians can achieve if we work together, support each other and put the effort into what it is we’re doing. Let’s make this a success.”

At its core, UniLife delivers a poignant and gripping portrayal of young adults grappling with the highs and lows of university life. The series explores the contrast between the students’ outward appearances and their inner battles, shedding light on societal pressures, peer influence, and the journey toward self-identity.

The narrative darkens as a student’s murder sends shockwaves through the campus, triggering an investigation that unearths hidden secrets and tests loyalties. With its richly drawn characters and layered storytelling, UniLife promises to engage viewers on both emotional and intellectual levels.

The talented ensemble includes Boyo, Chidora, Godfrey, Mary, Michael, Nadai, Onome (Queen of Babes), and Ronke. The series is directed by Mr. Afolabi Silver, with cinematography by Taiwo Adeleye, ensuring a visually compelling and expertly crafted production.

UniLife is more than just a television series—it is a bold statement about the realities of Nigerian youth, told with authenticity, passion, and a fresh creative vision. As it unfolds, it invites audiences to experience the vibrant, complex world of campus life through a thrilling and heartfelt lens.
